A Helpdesk Individual’s responsibilities are varied and involve providing total maintenance support to all the end users. The person has to constantly maintain network support to all the service levels which have been agreed upon. The person will have to improvise the existing processes for increased efficiency and better service, develop new technologies to assist the organisational business to achieve the targeted goals and objectives and will also have to ensure that the staff in the service division are thoroughly knowledgeable about their role functions.
The person has to provide total technical and maintenance support to the relevant departments, to the end users (customers) and help in resolving all their problems. In addition to these, the person will have to work in coordination with the other maintenance engineers whenever they may requisition for help, keep all the service coordinators updated on the progress of all calls, on site support where requested, make thorough analyses of all the faults and take appropriate action to resolve as per the contract or agreement details.
Taking care of all the document processes, training to upgrade all about the latest in technology, assist all with the various technical problems and ensure the reliability of all the solutions provided are some of the other duties of this individual. Qualifying candidates must have prior work experience in a similar industry and also have experience of fault finding and fixing general telecoms. The job profile demands working under pressure hence the person should be willing to put in long hours and must possess the ability and knack to deal with people from across a range of segments of society.
Computer literacy is a must and the person should be familiar with the various Microsoft office applications along with all the relevant processes of installation, maintenance and networking. Knowledge of VPN, WAN, LAN, IP Topology is essential. The person should also be capable of presenting structured training courses.
