Fitness Trainer

A Fitness Trainer’s chief responsibility lies in his ability of offering the most professional fitness to the patrons of the fitness centre or the concerned gym.

The chief responsibilities of a fitness trainer are to provide advisory services on physical fitness and on the associated safety instructions in the world of fitness and well-being. The individual must be extremely self-motivated, a team leader and should be a total people’s person. Individuals pursuing a career in this profession need to have strong customer service abilities skills and should be proficient in interacting with people from all walks of life.

In addition to these, a Fitness Trainer must be able to lead a team of fitness instructors, guide them in every situation and offer assistance to them in their interaction with clientele. Besides this, a Fitness Trainer must have the requisite knowledge to develop and implement quality systems, introduce attractive schemes to retain existing customers, develop attractive schemes to lure new customers and should be capable of maintaining the quality of the equipment at the fitness center.

The person is expected to undertake lifestyle/ fitness consultation & to maintain customer retention schemes. The successful candidate will have a pride in there surroundings & will be responsible for ensuring that the gym equipment & areas are clean, tidy & well maintained.

The qualifying candidates must possess the necessary qualifications to work as a fitness trainer, should hold a diploma from a reputed institute, combined with a successful track record to be able to dispense the same to others. Compensation packages are totally dependent n the institute or gym where the person is employed, on the person’s qualifications and experience as well as on a successful work record. Growth prospects are excellent for those who desire to pursue this as a long term career. Individuals can become personal trainers, personal fitness consultants, celebrity fitness consultants, visiting faculty at corporates and even establish their own fitness academy.

Groundsperson

A Groundsperson role entails innumerable responsibilities. Some of the important ones include the preparation of the ground. This could be applicable to a cricket pitch, a golf ground and even others. The person must have the knowledge of how the rolling and watering has to be done and the amount of grass which needs to be retained on the ground. This all has to be done in the exact proportion and in accordance to the requirements. This job function involves supervising and scheduling the duties of the staff in a professional manner for which the person must have good communication skills and team spirit.

In addition to these, the person also needs to be knowledgeable and well-versed with the machinery being used on the grounds, keep a regular check on the maintenance of the same and should be able to maintain the quality of the grounds as per the requirement. Some other areas of responsibilities include the health care of the plants and constant evaluation of the same with the aid of scientific techniques. The person should know how to provide the accurate range of treatment of the plants, implement the most effective and preventive care as well as maintenance programs for the plants.

An ideal candidate must have completed a study under a trainer in all phases of tree care and maintenance. The person should also have a work experience of 2-3 years to be able to manage the responsibilities in a successful manner. Prior training in minor maintenance and customer service is also a must.

Salary packages are dependent on the private owners/ ground committee looking after the specific grounds. Growth prospects are attractive for those individuals who wish to take up contracts with clients on an annual basis or a long-term basis.

Leisure Officer

A Leisure Officer must be knowledgeable with all the requisite aspects of Leisure and Travel associated with the industry. The chief responsibilities of this work area include total efficiency in all the various operations of the business.

In either of the areas be it leisure or tourism, the individual must have the requisite knowledge of managing all the functions of this job area. In the case of a leisure resort / premises, the person will have to be well-versed with the management of the place, possess excellent customer service skills and devise new and attractive schemes and plans to retain existing clientele and bring in new ones. The person has to constantly identify the needs of the members and cater to them in accordance with the rules of the said establishment. Supervising the staff in an effective manner, training and guiding them towards greater efficiency and helping them to meet the required goals are some of the other duties associated with this job area.

In the case of tourism, the person is expected to be extremely knowledgeable about the various travel destinations, initiate innovative travel plans and schemes for the holiday-goers as also the locals, devise attractive discounts for regular travelers, introduce interesting packages at affordable rates to lure the maximum number of travelers. The person should have a creative bend of mind and be able to devise new programs on a consistent basis to arouse the interest of the travelers.

A qualifying candidate must have completed a course in leisure / tourism from an established institute. The person must have a work experience of at least 2-3 years and have the necessary drive to achieve the highest and most satisfying standards of quality and customer service.

A charming and outgoing personality combined with patience, understanding and the drive to achieve the maximum success in the interests of the organisation are the pre-requisites of this job profile. Excellent communication skills in oral and written English, good leadership skills, team spirit and knowledge of one foreign language are always advantageous.

Compensation packages are highly attractive for the dedicated who are willing to work long hours, are responsible individuals and are desirous of growth along with that of the organisation. Growth prospects to management positions are easy to access if one can prove a successful work record on a consistent basis.

Lifeguard

A Lifeguard plays a vital role in offering safety to all the patrons on the premises enjoying the services thereof.

The person must possess knowledge of all the safety rules and norms and should be able to apply them on a regular basis. The person will have to be skillful in coordinating all emergency procedures and offering the same when the occasion arises. The individual must be a good customer services individual and should be able to establish a healthy and positive relationship with all the clients and other regulars.

A lifeguard must have an in-depth knowledge of all standard first aid procedures and should possess an endorsed certification in lifeguard training or a Red Cross certification. An individual must be good conversational skills in English and also in a local language to be able to deal with clients from across different sections of society.

A qualifying candidate must hold the necessary qualifications of training as a lifeguard and should have an experience of at least 1.5 -2 years in the same work area. The person should be physically strong and an excellent swimmer. The work associated with this profile is physical, strenuous and highly responsible.

Salaries are dependent on the individual’s past success and prior experience. Growth prospects are interesting and one can move to senior lifeguard positions by establishing their credibility on the job. Ambitious individuals can also set up their own organisation and offer superior lifeguard services.
