Analyst Programmer Developer

An Analyst Programmer Developer is responsible for the designing, development and future support of applications. An Analyst Programmer Developer has to perform various complex computer systems analysis and implementation with the minimum of guidance. The person as to be alert to garner and analyse the requirements of the users, detail all the specifications besides which he/she has to plan, develop and even test as well as document the computer programs.

To qualify for this position, a person has to hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Science, have DBA knowledge, Development of web applications, HTML or SQL Server skills, Deployment of a Progress application in a Citrix Environment. The individual must have a minimum of at least 5-6 years experience in Progress programming in a client server environment is desired, C++ and MFC coupled with excellent Java skills. Individuals with 2-3 years experience with FrontTier applications would also be preferred. The person must be able to shift priorities and tasks to accommodate unexpected changes to schedules and workloads.

The individual should possess excellent organising and team building skills as he/she may be required to supervise and delegate tasks to other IT staff as well as coordinate work and schedules with user areas.

Business - Systems Analyst

A Business Analyst has to work closely with the organisations’s client team in the development of customer requirements. This will include outlining the project scoping and making requisite estimations of the same. The person will have to work with other business analysts to develop the various business requirements and initiate and manage small business improvement projects.

A Business Analyst usually reports to the development manager. The person’s responsibilities include gathering and production of business documents (feasibility studies etc), project planning, liaising with developers, business and IT consultancy and offering advice and guidance thereby demonstrating an understanding of business issues.

The essential qualifications of a Business Analyst are to have requisite knowledge/experience of CRM and e-business, experience of writing business documentations, experience of having worked within a Quality System, project management experience, UML modelling using rational rose or XDE, skills in browser based products, CRM systems and databases e.g. SQL, Oracle.

A Business Analyst must possess a degree with IT content which may include some coding and post graduate experience of customer requirements gathering, internet and business software products, workshop planning, preparation and delivery as well as work experience within the IT development lifecycle.

Analysing complex business requirements, investigating IT production system problems, making appropriate recommendations for resolving of problems are some of the other duties of a Business Analyst. Suitable candidates will need to have extensive experience in the following areas -Project Management, Data Modelling, Functional Modelling, process design or re-engineering and have some of the following technical skills -System testing, Visual Basic, SQL, UML or Oracle. You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills at all levels.

The ideal individual should have excellent communication and organisation skills, an amicable team-player, sharp decision-maker as he/she he Business Analyst will be involved in bridging the gap between business and IT. Consultant

The job profile of an IT Consultant encompasses varied responsibilities. The Consultant is responsible for providing general consultancy to Managed Services Projects, defining and gathering IT requirements to functional and technical specification documents, managing the project from implementation to the acceptance of approved solutions.

Some of the other important functions include client/server implementation planning, computer system implementation planning, database design and maintenance, documentation, hardware & software selection, information technology organizational design, information technology strategy, project management for software developers, software quality assurance, web site design & search engine positioning,

To qualify for this position, a person must have a proven track record in the area of IT Consultancy in a major systems integration project and/or in a multinational corporate environment. The person should have knowledge of IT integration and architecture including: security, infrastructure, desktop computing environment, information management and business support systems.

The responsibilities are innumerable and highly demanding but the job is a dream for every ambitious IT consultant. The salary packages are interestingly attractive and incentives and perks form a part of this job profile which are dependent on the person’s performance.

Database Administrator

A Database Administrator’s job revolves around the designing and administrating of database systems for optimum performance, logical and physical database design, database installations and upgrades migration between platforms and provide out of hours support.

Some key responsibilities include understanding and establishing the needs of users, planning the data-flows for a new revised database, refining the 'logical design' so that it can be translated into a specific data model, mapping out the 'conceptual design' for a planned database in outline, refining the 'physical design' to meet system storage requirements, testing new systems, maintaining data standards, writing database documentation and controlling access permissions.

Besides these, the other functions include training users, meeting their access requirements and resolving their problems, ensuring the correct functioning of storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures, working in harmony with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers, providing technical support for outdated 'legacy' systems, communicating regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff, to ensure the database integrity and security, commissioning and installing new applications. Today, the world of IT is subjected to innumerable and unaccountable hacking for which a Database Administrator has to provide for ample security.

The individual must possess a minimum experience of two years in having managed Oracle, Oracle financial systems, Ingres and SQL Server databases. This could include maintenance, upgrades, sizing, administration, monitoring and performance tuning.

Other compulsory requirements include having practical knowledge and experience of backup and recovery procedures for Oracle, Ingres and SQL Server. Sound practical knowledge of UNIX and Windows 2000 and NT.

The Database Administrator should have the requisite experience and sound knowledge of technical problems, and have the ability to determine and resolve the same. Knowledge of Oracle Financials, Oracle Accreditation, Ingres, SQL Accreditation, Experience in database clustering and scripting (PL/SQL, Tranact SQL, DTS packages, Shell.

A highly responsible profile which demands both analytic and organisational skills as well as an eye for accuracy. The rewards are commensurate with the person’s proven efficiency and performances.

Database Developer

A Database Developer’s role centre’s around the garnering of the requisite information prior to the development of a database. The key responsibilities encompass the designing, developing, testing, implementation and maintaining both, new and/or enhanced databases.
The person has to be highly proficient to address technical questions regarding database development and ongoing production issues, provide “hands-on” technical assistance with developers, project managers, business development personnel, and clients during implementation phase.

A Database Developer must be an independent decision-maker who can meet all the customer requirements within specified time-frames. The person should be well-versed in the transferring of relevant matter/knowledge to IT personnel and acquire the approval of the stakeholders before the development begins. Usage of the correct tools to update the data models, developing and modifying database objects in accordance with gathered requirements, appropriate testing of database components in isolated test environment before moving the objects to the production phase are some of the other responsibilities associated with this profile.

Besides these, a Database Developer is responsible for reviewing the objects developed by his/her peers in the data management group to ensure that the objects adhere to the development standards and service level agreements.

The person should be an excellent motivator and a good team-leader to encourage the junior personnel in enhancing their skills and offer assistance to the various IT personnel, manage individual and other projects.

Qualifying candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a product development organization, have a significant experience with Oracle 9i, a thorough knowledge of Oracle and PL-SQL, including stored procedures, index strategies, performance tuning and optimization.

The person must also have experience with Oracle Reports and be able to write complex SQL statements against large scale databases.

Other requirements are having a strong understanding of object-relational database architecture, design and development practices, good organization/communication skills and abilities to manage multiple projects within a short development cycle, strong understanding of XML fundamentals.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is a must. Attractive compensation is a part of this job profile and is coupled with interesting perks.

Desktop Support

A Desktop Support person has an innate talent for communicating technical information to non-technical individuals. The person is responsible for the installation, setting up and the trouble-shooting of all desktops and workstations as well as the software and telephone systems. Besides these, a person must also have experience in Server administration and networks. Excellent communication skills are a must as the person will be providing assistance / training to employees who have a basic understanding of computer operations. Additional knowledge of PC Support, Multiple Windows OS, MS Office, Networking Basics are desirable and advantageous.

An amicable personality and excellent team spirit are the essentials of this profile coupled with an experience of at least 1-2 years in a similar role (Windows, MS Office, PCs, Helpdesk, Desktops). The job has a multitude of responsibilities and is challenging.
