The Head of Faculty has innumerable responsibilities to perform. They include coordinating and directing staff and students, managing admission procedures, providing counseling, overseeing financial assistance, and supervising residential programs on one hand and social and recreational programs on the other.
In some educational institutes, there are separate individuals handling each of these services. The Head of Faculty is responsible for recruitment, evaluation and the admission of students.

The Head of Faculty has to be alert to the constant changes in the syllabi, if any, and incorporate the necessary changes accordingly. A PhD in Higher Education is a must. A graduate combined with 5-6 years of work experience will also help to qualify a candidate for this position. An individual must have the requisite patience, knowledge and matured capability to be able to handle all the challenges and issues in the most efficient manner.
